WERE YOU SELECTED FOR VERIFICATION FOR 2012-2013?

· If you have completed your FAFSA please read your Student Aid Report Comments to see if you have been chosen for a process called VERIFICATION. Check the status of your FAFSA , login, and make sure the ‘Current Application Status’ says ‘Processed Successfully’. Proceed to ‘View Processed to Information’. Confirm your identity with your Federal FAFSA PIN and click on the most recent transaction. Click on the ‘SAR Comments’ link on the left and read it carefully to see if it says you have been selected for verification. An * at the end of your Expected Family Contribution (EFC) number also indicates that you have been chosen for verification.

· If you were selected for verification you can print out the Verification Worksheet or pick it up in the Office of Financial Aid. You must complete the forms and return them with all signed required documents, as noted on the forms and in email or regular mail request, to the Office of Financial Aid.

· If selected for verification, federal regulations now require either:
IRS data retrieval of income information on the FAFSA (beginning February 1, 2012 to eligible applicants) or Federal Tax Transcripts from the IRS to be submitted to the Office of Financial Aid.

Due to changes in federal regulations, the Office of Financial Aid cannot accept copies of your Federal 1040 Tax Returns for 2012-13 FAFSA verification. Follow up as soon as possible by turning in all required documents http://www.etsu.edu/finaid/faforms/verification.aspx .

· Allow a few weeks for your submitted verification documents to be reviewed by the Office of Financial Aid. Further information may be requested once documentation has been reviewed. It is very important that the additional documentation is submitted as soon as possible to avoid a delay in processing your financial aid.

· Anticipate financial aid awards for new and transfer students will begin showing in GoldLink around the end of April. Anticipate financial aid awards for currently enrolled students will begin showing in GoldLink around the end of May. Check your Financial Aid Status on GoldLink to accept your financial aid offer. FINANCIAL AID CANNOT BE PROCESSED UNTIL VERIFICATION IS COMPLETE. Turning in inaccurate and incomplete information and delaying in responding to requests for this information may cause a serious delay in your aid. This may result in fewer funds being available to you. Priority is given to students who meet the priority deadline of April 15.

Check your Financial Aid Status on GoldLink. Verification documents received will be listed on the Student Requirement page in GoldLink will read as pending review until the documents are reviewed and completed with the Office of Financial Aid. Check your Student Requirements frequently because new requirements can be added each time changes are made to your financial aid.
